Webster’s Dictionary defines a heroine as a woman admired and emulated for her achievements and qualities. I define it as you. Follow me as I explain what I mean.
Over two years ago, God placed the word heroine on my heart along with the hashtag the heroine experience. I didn’t quite understand it at first and I actually fought against it! I thought people would mistake it for the drug! Bless my heart… So I decided to research the meaning of the word. I mean really dig deep. I finally came up with the Webster’s definition which I shared above but it did not resonate with my spirit. I felt that it meant something deeper. More than mere words… it was a movement.
One day at a planning session with my prayer partner and close friend, she asked me these two questions: Why don’t you come up with your own definition? What does heroine mean to YOU?
A lightbulb went off. I had what Auntie O calls an “aha” moment. I CAN come up with my own definition. And today, you are the first one to get a glimpse into what heroine means to me, and why the heroine experience is so important.
In the Bible, there are numerous women who fight for what they believe in. Some nameless, some infamous, but all important to the body of Christ. A heroine is a women who is secure in who she is. She loves fiercely and speaks life over herself, her family, and her friends. She’s an encourager. She’s fearless – not in the literal sense but in the spiritual sense because she knows God is with her. She is in tune with the Holy Spirit and she obeys the word of God. Her steps are ordered and her strength comes from the Lord.

Based on what I’ve shared, do you see yourself as a heroine? Do the words resonate with you as a woman? If your answer is yes, great! If your answer is no, that’s even better because my purpose is directly tied to calling the heroine out in you. See, I believe it’s already there. Inside of you. Waiting to be released.
So again, I define the word heroine as YOU.
That’s right. You. The one reading this. You’re a heroine! Whether you see it or not, it’s there. I believe in you and know that everything God created you to do on this earth will come to pass.
